Imari porcelain chocolate bowl and saucer Japan, Edo Period, circa 1700-20

The bowl and saucer are each of circular form and are decorated with floral and foliate sprays in underglaze blue with overglaze red and gilt highlights. The bowl bears an exhibition label 'No.73/94, 5/4/81, On loan from J.R. Findlay Esq.' and a subsequent label '31 R.T.' The saucer bears the label '31 R.T.'

Bowl: 8cm wide, 7cm high. Saucer: 14cm wide

Condition

There are small chips to the rim and foot-rim of the bowl and to the foot-rim of the saucer. There are some minor marks, scratches and rubbing to the glaze and decoration of both pieces. Otherwise they are in good condition.
