Monochrome copper red glazed porcelain vase China, Qing Dynasty, early 19th century

The vase is of squat inverted baluster form with an even dark rich red glaze that has withdrawn from the rim leaving the white porcelain visible beneath the glaze. There is a blue tinged transparent glaze to the base and the interior.

Condition

The vase has been damaged at the rim and neck and there is an old repair where it has been re-stuck and has discoloured over time. There is some fritting and minor chips to the foot rim. There is crazing throughout both the copper red and transparent glassy glazes which is typical of this type of ware. The glaze on the main body of the vase has minor firing marks, but otherwise is a in good condition.
