The box is of rectangular form with a pewter rim. The cover and sides are decorated in hiramaki-e, takamaki-e and nashiji with a pine tree on a hill beneath a sun. The interior and base are in nashiji.
9cm wide, 4.5cm high, 7.5cm deep
The box has been rubbed all-over and the black lacquer can be seen beneath in places, some small losses of lacquer to the sides and ends. There are some light scratches to the base otherwise it is in good condition.
