Rare green glazed biscuit fired porcelain shaped libation cup China, Kangxi, early 18th century

The cup is in the form of an archaic bronze jué. The body has a geometric band of decoration with a handle to one side. It stands on three feet. There is an indistinct impressed mark to the base of the cup.

Provenance

There is a label to one side from the collection of George Eumorfopoulos catalogue number E.9. The catalogue number E.9 does not match the inventory. There is however an illustrated example of this type in volume 5 of the collection, catalogue number E.420.

Condition

The cup has a chipped rim, approximately 1cm wide. There is also a small patch of old restoration to the rim of the cup, which has now discoloured black. One foot is lacking from one of the legs, another leg is lacking the end of its foot.
