The porcelain dish is of circular form with a glazed base and unglazed foot rim. The grey green glaze has large black crazing over a lighter brown crazing.
10.5cm wide, 2cm high
There is extensive crazing throughout. There is a firing chip to the foot rim and a crack to the base. Otherwise it is in good condition.
Guan ware was one of the five classical wares of the Song Dynasty. In the 18th century there was a revival of archaic forms and of classical wares. This style of ware has thick crazing which was an intended form of decoration and it was greatly appreciated by the Chinese patrons.
