Lacquer raised tray for ceremonial use Japan, Meiji Period, 19th century

The tray is of rectangular form with raised rims and is standing on four bracket legs. The tray is covered in glossy black lacquer with a design in gold hiramaki-e and kirigane of fruiting branches, leaves and flowers.

45.5cm wide, 9cm high, 39.5cm deep

Condition

There are some minor nicks to the side of the table and to the legs. The top is slightly faded in comparison to the bottom and there are some minor scratches and rubbing to the gold maki-e in places. Otherwise it is in good condition.
