Famille-Rose porcelain saucer China, Qing Dynasty, 19th century

SOLD

The saucer is of circular form with a raised shaped rim. The well is decorated with a central reserve of a peach and a bat, surrounded by a border of flowering plants. The reverse shows three bats in iron red and an auspicious mark to the base also in iron red.

11cm wide, 2.2cm high

Condition

There are two small firing marks to the base otherwise the saucer is in good condition.

Note

The peach and the bat are very auspicious symbols in China. The three bats on the reverse, the bat in the reserve and the peach represent the Five Blessings. The surrounding flowers are also auspicious and reinforce this message.
