Carved as lotus leaves and flowers.
22cm wide, 6cm high, 17cm deep
There are some chips and losses. It is a dark heavy wood with a rich lustre. We have tested it in water and it sinks to the bottom unlike ordinary rosewood which floats.
It would have originally been carved as a stand for a large piece of jade, probably from the reign of the Qianlong Emperor.
