Komai ware vesta case Japan, Meiji Period, late 19th century

The iron case is of rectangular form and is inlaid with a design in gold and silver. On one side is a shaped cartouche containing eight cranes within a foliate border, the other side has a circular cartouche containing three birds flying over flowers and a shaped cartouche of a pavilion beside a pine tree within a similar floral border.

3.2cm wide, 5cm high, 0.5cm deep

Condition

There is light rubbing to the hinge area otherwise it is in good condition.
