An unusual shaped lacquer tripod dish Japan, Edo Period, 18th century

The dish is of circular form on three tripod legs. The whole dish is decorated in black lacquer with a hiramaki-e design in the shape of bundles of wheat.

Dimensions

23cm wide, 6.5cm high

Condition

The top of the dish is slightly faded with a few marks and spotting. The rim has three minor chips. One of the legs has come off and has been neatly re-glued so that the repair is barely visible. Otherwise the dish is in good condition.
